Asheville Mary M Capps Tweed, 87, formerly of 25 Sienna Drive, went to be with her Lord Monday, October 6, 2008 at the WNC Baptist Home. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County since January 1939. She retired in 1987 from Vanderbilt Shirt Factory following 10 years of service and was a member of Richland Baptist Church. Mrs. Tweed was a daughter of the late Andy Rexter Capps and Leona Crain Capps and wife of the late Edward Lawrence Tweed who died May 4, 1969. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Tweed. Surviving are her son, Edward Kenneth Tweed of Houston, TX; daughters, Carolyn T. Cline and Nina Marie Honeycutt both of Asheville, Joyce Ann Reep of Forest City and Geraldine T. Nicholson of Asheville; sisters, Berlie Wilson of Mills Springs and Viola Hooker of Newton; half-brother, Al Montgomery of Jacksonville, FL; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 6 P.M. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Gassaway officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services. Graveside services will be held 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Locust Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jack Gassaway and Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
