Fletcher Mary Beth Mollica, 80, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Appling County, GA, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1972. Mrs. Mollica was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, where she was very active in the Womens Circle. She was a devoted wife and mother and a loving grandmother, known affectionately as MaMa Doc to her grandchildren. Mrs. Mollica was the daughter of the late Abraham Ottis and Hannah Rose Bell Eason, and the wife of the late Dr. Michael Joseph Mollica. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Flora Eason, and brothers: William P. Eason and Donald L. Eason. Surviving are her daughters: Mary Gina Mollica of Knoxville, TN, Dr. Kelly Anne Mollica of Jackson, TN, and Kayce Mollica Young and husband James T. Young of Fletcher; four grandchildren: Jameykay Young, Kelsey Young, Logan McKinney, and Avery McKinney; brothers: George W. Eason and Joe F. Eason, both of Georgia; and a host of friends who were very dear to her. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 29, 2009 at the Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, with Pastor David Eck officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 801 Charlotte Highway, Fairview, NC 28730, or to the Vasculitis Foundation, PO Box 28660, Kansas City, MO 64188-8660. The family would like to express a special Thank You to the physicians and staff of Mountain Kidney Center for their kindness and support of their mother.
