Martha Hoyle

February 9, 1934 — September 12, 2015

Weaverville Martha Black Hoyle, 81, joined our Lord Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Emerald Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. A native of Yancey County, Mrs. Hoyle had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She attended Woodfin High School, where she played basketball, and formerly served as a Registered Nurse with Memorial Mission and St. Joseph Hospitals. She was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church. Mrs. Hoyle was the daughter of the late Hardy Nathan and Annie Mae Littrell Black. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Winfred Hoyle, who passed away April 4, 2014; son, Joseph Lane "Joey" Hoyle; three brothers: Jackson Clayton Black, Joseph Harold Black, and Hardy Black, Jr.; and sister, Bertha Nooki Fletcher. Surviving are her son, Doug Hoyle (Susan) of Candler; daughter, Rose Hoyle of Weaverville; five grandchildren: Chris, Michael, Tabitha (Nick), Laura, and Richie; five great-grandchildren: Kyree, Braedan, Jayda, Richie, Jr., and Nick, Jr.; son-in-law, Edward Red Peek; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Campbell; special daughters: Darlene Moore (David) and Becky Hall; sisters: Darlene Harding of Woodfin and Nina Black of Weaverville; brother, Arthur Ott Black of Weaverville; sister-in-law, Sara Hunter (Bill); and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Barry Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7:00 9:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
