Marlene Dukes

Asheville - Marlene Goree Dukes, 74, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2014 at her home. A native of Fremont, NE, Mrs. Dukes had lived in Buncombe County since 2002. She was a veteran of the US Navy, and was of the Lutheran faith. Mrs. Dukes was the daughter of the late Robert and Florence Meyer Capron, and the wife of Clyde M. Dukes, who passed away November 24, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl West; and a sister, Julene Capron. Surviving are her children: Kenny Dukes, Eric Dukes and wife Michelle, Vicki Paulk, and Stacy Dukes; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Dobbins; brothers: Gordon Goree and Donald Goree; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Seaman officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00 5:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
