Asheville - Mack Clayton Babe Williams, 76, of 27 Fremont Rd. died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at his residence. A native of Waynesville. He had resided in the Asheville area since 1955 and was a son of the late James Madison Williams and Claire Paige Williams. Mr. Williams was formerly employed Chakeles Hoisery, Broadway Hosiery and Blaylock Lumber Manufacturing Co. He enjoyed and was well known for his handywork and was a member of Oakley Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Brenda Williams; daughter, Frances Williams of Charlotte; sons, Roy Williams of Chapel Hill and Danny Williams of Asheville; grandchildren, Tina Funderburk, Len Pressley and Scott Williams all of Charlotte, Kimberly Williams of Lawrence, Kansas, Heather Williams and Derek Williams both of Asheville; great grandchildren, Justin Funderburk, Remedy Pressley and Dalton Funderburk; brother, Ray Williams of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Oakley Baptist Church with Pastor Tom Pierce officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Williams, George Williams, Joe Williams, Bobby Payne, Josh Prinz and Billy Splawn. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
