Lee Howard Buchanan

March 11, 1919 — February 16, 2004

Candler - Lee Howard Buchanan, 84, of 420 Old U.S. Hwy. 19/23 died Monday, February 16, 2004 at Mission Hospitals. A native of Mitchell County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1947. He attended Hominy Baptist Church and was retired from Southern Railways. Mr. Buchanan was the son of the late Fleeta Burleson Buchanan and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Grace Carr, Clarice DeGroat, and Ethel Steinmetz. Surviving are his wife, Ruby Bivins Buchanan of the home, children, Phyllis Roberts and husband Craig of Asheville, Bill Buchanan and wife Shirley and Doris Anne Buchanan, all of Candler; grandchildren, Michael Roberts, Michele Capel, and Sharon Kitchin; great grandchildren, Breanna Capel, Jackson Kitchin, Sydney Roberts, and Rachel Kitchin. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Joe Yelton and Rev. Dr. Fred Werhan officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1 1/2 hours prior to the services.
