Lawrence Ora "Larry" Kibby

Black Mountain - Lawrence Ora Larry Kibby, 65, of 101 Lions Way, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2006 at the Marjorie McCune Memorial Center following a period of declining health. A native of Portsmouth, VA, he had resided most of his life in Buncombe County. He worked as a manager in an Ice Service Convenience Store, and had served for four years in the US Navy. Larry was the son of the late William Granville and Mildred Lee Sawyer Kibby. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William G. Kibby, Jr., and a sister, Nancy Pauline Kibby. Surviving are a sister, Judy Freeman, of Black Mountain; a brother, John Kibby and wife Sue of Jacksonville, FL; and several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great-nephews. A memorial service will be held at 5 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
