Julia Troutman Saunders

February 14, 1912 — March 25, 2009

Weaverville Julia Troutman Saunders, went home to be with Jesus and her loved ones, on March 25, 2009. She was born February 14, 1912 in Haywood County to the late Ivey and Annie Arrington Troutman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Haywood Saunders; baby sister, Mary Louise; brothers, Frank, Harold and Bug Troutman and daughter-in-law, Beatrice Saunders. She lived in Candler for many years before moving to Holyoke, MA where she retired from Providence Hospital. After retiring, she moved back to Hazelwood, making her home. She loved to work in her garden, canning many green beans and making sauerkraut, which she shared with family and friends. She attended Sulphur Springs Freewill Baptist Church. In 2003, due to failing health she went to live with Bill and Rose, spending time in Tennessee with Charlie and Vergie, health permitting. After moving to Weaverville, she attended Walnut Freewill Baptist Church. No longer able to stay at home, she moved to Brian Center of Weaverville. Mrs. Saunders is survived by her sons, Jimmy of Alexandria, VA, Charlie and wife Vergie of Unadella, GA, Bill and wife Rose of Weaverville; sisters, Evelyn Owens of Gastonia, Ruth Long and Margaret Bradley both of Waynesville; 9 grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 22 step great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Saturday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Preston Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pisgah View Memorial Park with Wayne, Billy & James Saunders, Gerald & Mark Rogers and James Buckner serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of Bill and Rose Saunders, 30 Gentry Branch Road, Weaverville. At this time, we would like to say special thanks to the staff at Brian Center and also, to CarePartners Hospice for the wonderful care and love they showed to Mom and our family.
