Asheville Joyce Elmira Buchanan Chambers, 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of Spruce Pine, she had resided in Knoxville, TN from 1959 to 2010 and resided in Asheville since May 2010. She was an Administrative Assistant for Knox County and a 1948 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School. Mrs. Chambers was a daughter of the late William Zeb Buchanan and Retta Elmira Sparks Buchanan and the wife Walter Andrew Chambers who died May 11, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Buchanan and sisters, Dot Byrd and Edna Hall. Surviving are her son, David Chambers and wife Susan of Weaverville; daughters, Joy Lee Skeen and husband Mike of Perry, GA and Charlene Marie Horak of Oak Ridge, TN; granddaughters, Kathryn Lynne Amrine and husband Brian of Chapel Hill and Melissa Marie Moses and husband Todd of Weaverville; great grandsons, Clay William Moses and Andrew Kenneth Moses both of Weaverville; sister, Kate Abernathy of Oak Ridge, NC and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, February 12, 2018 in the chapel of Berry Highland South Funeral Home, 9010 Simpson Road, Knoxville, TN with Rev. Robert Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Berry Highland South Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Monday at Berry Highland South Funeral Home.
