John W. Roberts

Asheville John W. Roberts, 77, of 1147 Old Leicester Hwy, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Morristown, TN, he was a resident of Buncombe County for most of his life. He retired in 2004 from BASF following 10 years of service and formerly served as an outside Auto Parts Salesman for many years. He was a member of Newfound Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Usher. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served on the USS Antietam. Mr. Roberts was a son of the Walton Willie Roberts and Rena Roberts and was also preceded in death by his sisters, Anna Young and Mabel Ellison Fisher. Surviving are his wife of 55 years of marriage, Marie Frisbee Roberts of the home; sister, Peggy Williams (Harold) of Flat Creek; brothers, Bobby Joe Roberts (Mary) of Asheville and J.R. Roberts of Mt. Home and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Newfound Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Maynard officiating. Burial will follow in Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:45 AM Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to: The Gideons International, P.O.
