Jay Chandler

Alexander James Baxter Jay Chandler, 87, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2013 at his home. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County since 1966. He served in Law Enforcement all of his life and retired from Biltmore Forest Police Department where he served as Chief of Police and was a US Army veteran during WWII. Mr. Chandler was the son of the late Horace Lee Chandler and Rose Robinson Chandler and husband of Inez Schneider Chandler who died November 7, 2007. Surviving are his son, Ken Chandler and wife Pat of Portland, IN; daughter, Cynthia Mendoza and husband Dan of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren, Kensey Albertson and husband Bobby of Lynn, IN and Michael Chandler of Portland, IN and great grandchildren, Jonathan, Jarrett, Hannah and C.J. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
