Hester R. Hensley

Asheville - Hester Katie Ellen Rogers Hensley, 85. of 205 Riverview Church Road died Monday at the WNC Baptist Home after and extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Bingham Heights Baptist Church and of the Eastern Star. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Rosa Rogers and the wife of the late Martin L. Hensley. Surviving are her daughter, Bethel H. Ward and husband John H. Ward, Jr. of Asheville; brother, Earl D. Rogers of Enka; grandson, John H. Ward III of Leicester; granddaughter, Melissa Ward of Asheville; 2 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Claude Surrett and Pastor Daniel Stephenson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
