Helen Lucille Dalton

Candler - Helen Johnson Dalton, 75, of 200 Tunnel Road, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 in the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center after an extended illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Parker and Annie Cook Johnson, and the wife of Carroll Dwight Dalton, who passed away June 5, 1996. She was also preceded in death by five brothers. Surviving are her daughters: Phyllis Dalton Mintz of Knoxville, TN and Amy Whittemore and husband Carroll of Candler; her son, William H. Dalton of Canton; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and three special friends: Belle McCurry, Mildred Gregory, and Dot Carver. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Wayne Adkisson officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Parker, Travis Dalton, Jeff Clark, Jake Whittemore, Parker Dalton, and Jordan Dalton. Zach Dalton and Andrew Dalton will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
