Gerald Hudson

Asheville Gerald Tillman Hudson, 65, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Hudson was a native of McDowell County and had resided in Buncombe County since 1988. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War with the rank of Sergeant and was a Combat Wounded Veteran of which he received the Purple Heart. He was the son of the late Joseph Bryan Hudson and Edith Taylor. Surviving are his son, William Harrel Billy Hudson of the home; sister, Sandra Hempel of Cape Cod, MA; half sister, Violet Schmidt of Marion; half brother, Mike Johnson of Marion; several nieces and nephews including his nephew, Robin Hempel and wife, Audria of Candler. Funeral services will be held 12 PM Thursday, September 6, 2012 in the chapel of the Western NC State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain with Rev. Stacey Harris officiating.
