Georgia Dehart

Asheville Georgia Marie Burleson DeHart, 84, passed away Monday, April 30, 2018. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of her life, Mrs. DeHart was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church, and was a Past Worthy Matron in the Biltmore Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, as well as an avid gardener. Mrs. DeHart was the daughter of the late Vernie and Gertrude Sawyer Burleson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Herman Walter DeHart, Sr.; brothers: Vernie Burleson, Jr., and Alvin Burleson; and sister, Alma Taylor. Surviving are her daughter: Sharon Kanipe; sons: Walter DeHart, II, Michael Elton DeHart and wife Gigi, Roger Dallas DeHart and wife Nancy, and Wayne Edwin DeHart and wife Sherrie; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting the DeHart family.
