Frances Treadway Tate, 89, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 at her residence. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County for the past 49 years. Mrs. Tate was the daughter of the late Elmer and Julia Gosnell Treadway. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Dudley Tate; sisters: Edna Tate, Julia Roberts and Margaret Payne; brothers: Everette Treadway, Lonnie Treadway, Jesse Treadway, Junior Treadway. Surviving are her daughters: Barbara Turner of Candler, June Styles of Candler, and Brenda McFadden of Knoxville, TN; son, Ernest Norman Tate and wife Joyce of Roxboro; sister, Emma Anderson of Asheville; brother, John Treadway and wife Norrie of Leicester; grandchildren: Bryan Styles and wife Tamara, Ernie Tate and wife Shannon, Frances Tate Sorensen and husband Brad, Amanda Penland, and Felicia McFadden; great grandchildren: Lexxi, Landon, Teigan, Ethan, and Layla; and by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, October 2, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Stephen Oxner officiating. Burial will follow in the Bowman-Rector Cemetery. The family will receive from 10 till 11 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
