Cherokee - Eula Letterman Lambert, 94, formerly of 27 Virginia Ave., West Asheville, died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at her residence in Whittier, NC. A native of Yancey County. Mrs. Lambert resided in West Asheville for most of her life before moving to Whittier 11 years ago. She served at West Asheville Baptist Church in the Nursery for 55 years and was a member of the church for 60 years. A daughter of the late Arter Clingman Letterman and Pansy Pearl Fox Letterman and wife of Gaylord W. Lambert who died in 1981. Mrs. Lambert was also preceded in death by sisters, Eva Patterson and Ola Ballard; brothers, Charlie, Filmore and Uri Letterman and a grandson, Gaylord Guzman. Surviving are her daughters, Gay Lambert Merideth of Whittier, Colleen Lambert Gregory of Asheville; son, Alan Dee Lambert of Whittier; sister, Cora Gosnell, brother Joe Letterman both of Asheville; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. James H. Johnson officiating. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Anders-Rice Funeral Home is assisting Mrs. Lamberts family.
