Eugene F. Pegg

Asheville Eugene Franklin Pegg, 80, of 26 Mt. Carmel Drive, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Simpsonville, SC following a long illness. A native and resident of Buncombe County, he was an Upholsterer and a member, Deacon and former choir member of Bethel Baptist Church and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Mr. Pegg was the son of the late Jim Henry Pegg and Esta Webb Pegg and husband of Betty Pegg who died in May 1994. He was also preceded in death by one sister and eight brothers. Surviving are his son, Donald E. Baity of Asheville; daughters, Faye Gass and husband Jerry of Easley, SC, Joyce E. Payne and husband Michael of Oklahoma City, OK and Janet Klein and husband Lupe of San Antonio, TX; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and sisters, Nelle Shuford and Irene Allen and husband Bud all of Barnardsville. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Emmas Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Mark Lewis officiating.
