Elsie Leola Dyer

Asheville - Elsie Leola Dyer, 94, of 68 Louisiana Avenue went to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 6, 2002 at Memorial Mission Hospital following a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Mrs. Dyer was formerly employed with Bradleys Grocery, Lingerfelts Grocery and former co-owner of Dyers Grocery. She was a member of Emma Baptist Church where member and former secretary of the Dorcas Sunday School Class. She was a daughter of the late John Nathaniel and Lula Paralee Dalton Bradley and the wife of Homer Jason Dyer who died June 27, 1993. Surviving are son, Herman John Dyer of the home; five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Sorrells officiating with music provided by the Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. Burial will be in Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gerald, Ray, Norman and Roger Dyer and great grandsons, Dewayne and Jeremy Dyer. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence.
