Asheville Edith A. Freeman Clemmons, 83, of Asheville, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Monday, March 19, 2007. She had lived her entire life in Buncombe County near her children and grandchildren that were very dear to her heart. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Mrs. Clemmons was the daughter of the late Anson and Sallie Kate Revis Freeman. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Edward Charles Clemmons; sisters and brothers: Emma McFee, Lillian Gillespie, Bud Freeman, Alvin Freeman, Grady Freeman, Paul Freeman, Theodore Freeman, Glen Freeman, Lissie Henderson, Hattie Israel and Sadie Anders. Surviving are her son, Edward Ronald Clemmons and wife Lorraine of Raleigh; and daughter, Barbara Sue Shook and husband Ray of Asheville. She is also survived by her grandchildren who loved her very much: Traci Shook Stewart and husband John of Alexander, Jeffrey Scott Shook and wife Michelle of Asheville, Tammie Clemmons-Crawford of Raleigh, and Jennifer Clemmons Chavis and husband David of China Grove, NC; and great-grandchildren: Katelyn Suzanne Stewart, John Andrew Stewart, Matthew Scott Shook, Madilyn Emilee Shook, Zachary Hunter Bartlett, Carlee Christine Crawford, and Chloe Elyse Crawford. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Phillips officiating. Mrs. Clemmons will be laid to rest at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory, beside her husband Ed. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
