Earl Brigman

Asheville Earl Norman Brigman, 74, of 8 Macks View Drive, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2016. A native of Buncombe County, Mr. Brigman had resided in Haywood County for 27 years prior to returning to Buncombe County in the 1990s. He retired from Dayco following 27 years of service. Mr. Brigman attended Mt. Sheba Baptist Church, and was a Master Mason with the Blackmer Masonic Lodge #170. He was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the US Navy. Mr. Brigman was a very loving and caring man. His love for the Lord was first, and he loved his family, and was so proud of all of them. He loved Joyce with all of his heart and always put her first. He also loved hunting, fishing and camping. Mr. Brigman was a son of the late Robert Kelcy Brigman and Dorothy Carter Brigman. He was also preceded in death by his grandmother, Winnie Duke Carter, and mother-in-law, Granny Brown. Surviving are his loving wife, Joyce Ann Brown Brigman of the home; children: Sherri Brigman Taylor (Tom) of Rutledge, TN, Robert W. Brigman (Pam) of Hazard, KY, and Daniel Earl Brigman of Asheville; grandchildren: Aaron Taylor, Joseph Taylor, Brittany Brigman, and Brodie Brigman; great-grandchildren: Zoie Kidwell and Brylee Fisher; extended family: Sabrina Gwin, Elizabeth Combs, IsaacLynn Gwin, Ruby-Charmaine Gwin, brothers: Arthur K. Brigman (Lyna) of Asheville, and Rev. Donald C. Brigman (Sherra) of Rock Hill, SC; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Greg Warren and Rev. Donald Brigman officiating. Burial will follow in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors provided by the US Navy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
