Cumi R. Worley

Cumi Roberts Worley, 97, of Merrills Cove Road, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Madison County, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was formerly employed with English Lumber Company for many years. She worked at home, baby sitting and as a homemaker and was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and mamaw and God-fearing woman who loved her family and friends. Mrs. Worley was a daughter of the late Mark and Bertie Mae Rathbone Roberts and wife of Fassie Vernon Worley who died May 8, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Estie Rice; sons, Dennis and Harold Worley; brother, Troy Roberts and sister, Nina Lee Caldwell. Surviving are her daughter, Althea W. Rogers and husband Rev. Howell Rogers of Asheville; grandchildren, Rita Gibson and husband Tom of Huntersville, Rick Rice of Donalds, SC, Patricia Bates and husband Ronnie of Weaverville and Lisa Tolley and husband Kermit of Arden; six great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; sister, Edna Caldwell and husband Sol of Marshall and many whom affectionately knew her as Mamaw. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, November 16, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Cecil Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park.
