Coy Grooms

Weaverville Coy Ditmore Grooms, 80, of 486 Ox Creek Road, passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Madison County, he had resided most of his life in Buncombe County. He retired from Revco Scientific and was a member of Ridgeview Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Grooms was a son of the late Columbus and Maggie Baldwin Grooms and husband of the late Barbara Radcliff Grooms. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Maggie Hope; grandson, Michael DeWayne Grooms; 3 sisters and 1 brother. Surviving are his children, Loretta Grooms, DeWayne Grooms, Jean Duyck, Ronnie Grooms, Kathy Roberts, Patricia English, Mike Grooms, Ray Grooms and Becky Hagen; 16 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sisters, Ann Reeves and Hazel Bodziak. Funeral services will be held 2 P.M. Thursday at Ridgeview Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Lanning and Rev. Burl Ledford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
