Charles Hayes

Hendersonville Charles Bascomb Hayes, 85, of 366 Sunrise Ridge Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 23, 2017. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of his life he had resided in Henderson County for the past 18 years. He was the son of the late Floyd Bascomb Hayes and Margaret Parris Hayes and was also preceded in death by his daughter, Holly. Mr. Hayes was a member of Emma Baptist Church and was a former Sunday School Teacher. He retired in 1983 from AT &T where he served for 33 years and enjoyed collecting coins. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Patricia Peggy Coulby Hayes; daughters, Sherri Stensing, Elizabeth Beth Bell and Vicki Edwards and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Samantha Bell, Joseph Stensing and wife, Dottie and Paul Edwards. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:30 to 2:15 PM at the funeral home.
