Bertha Redmon Griffin

Arden Bertha Lee Redmon Griffin, 87, of 115 Linden Street, departed this life January 19, 2007. Bertha has gone on to her eternal life to be with her Lord, in whom she had a lot of faith. A native of Madison County, Bertha lived most of her life in Buncombe County. She retired from Asheville Citizen-Times as a typist. Bertha was the daughter of the late John Harrison and Annie May Gaddy Redmon. She was also preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Surviving are her daughter: Monte Simpson and husband Lynn of Maryville, TN; son, David Clay Kent and fianc Tessa Thomason, of the home; grandchildren: Nathan and Jennifer Miller, both of Maryville, TN; great-grandchildren: Austin, Tennessee, Scott, Claudia and Kaylee; and three sisters: Ava Ward and husband Robert of Nebo, and Ruby Whitt and Joyce Sluder, both of Asheville. Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Everette C. Haney, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the French Broad Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 122, Alexander, NC 28701.
