Fletcher Adrian Dwight Oxendine, 55, of 941 Hoopers Creek Road passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at his home. A native of Scotland County, NC he had resided in Henderson County the past 32 years. He was employed with the NC Agricultural Center following 15 years of service, was a member of Fletcher First Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Mr. Oxendine is a son of Marrine Jacobs Strickland of Maxton, NC and the late Clifton Ray Oxendine. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Ann Prestrige. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Rita Lewis Oxendine, whom he married August 30, 1974, of the home; daughters, Amy Pollett of Fletcher and Caryll Oxendine of Fayetteville; son, Jack Oxendine and wife Erin of Concord; grandchildren, Stephen, Hannah, Baylee, Dylan and Amber; sister, Edwina Jacobs of Maxton; brothers, Tony Oxendine of Fletcher, Mitchell Oxendine, Michael Oxendine and Jerry Strickland all of Maxton; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Thursday at Fletcher First Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Waldroup, Rev. Charles Lewis and Rev. Bill Edmondson officiating. Burial will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park with military graveside rites conducted by the Henderson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
